The Old Testament includes very few hints about an afterlife however Isaiah 25 provides a strong message for its existence. Isaiah 24 was a devastating chapter regarding God’s judgement on the Earth but chapter 25 provides hope. Verse 7-8 talks about the abolition of death and pain:
7 On this mountain he will destroy
the shroud that enfolds all peoples,
the sheet that covers all nations;
8 he will swallow up death forever.
The Sovereign LORD will wipe away the tears
from all faces;
he will remove the disgrace of his people
from all the earth.
The LORD has spoken.
This hope continues on to chapter 26:
19 But your dead will live;
their bodies will rise.
You who dwell in the dust,
wake up and shout for joy.
Your dew is like the dew of the morning;
the earth will give birth to her dead.
At the end of the day, God will rule with perfect justice over his perfect kingdom.
