Isaiah – Chapter 21
A prophecy against the enemies of Israel (Babylon, Edom and Arabia). I want to focus on one of those enemies, Babylon. Can you imagine that scene occurring here:
8 And the lookout [a] shouted,
“Day after day, my lord, I stand on the watchtower;
every night I stay at my post.
9 Look, here comes a man in a chariot
with a team of horses.
And he gives back the answer:
‘Babylon has fallen, has fallen!
All the images of its gods
lie shattered on the ground!’ ”
A scene of rejoicing could be occurring afterward. The sinful empire of Babylon has been thrashed to the ground. The hanging gardens of Babylon have been destroyed. The mighty palaces lay desolate and ruined. Their gods have been reduced to rubble.
God has a way of breaking down even the mighty. The powerful become humbled. That scene is playing out here.
Trust that the Lord will deliver you in times of adversity. He is mighty and awesome.
