Isaiah – Chapter 22
You Looked, but You Never Looked to Him
You looked and looked and looked, but you never looked to him who gave you this city, never once consulted the One who has long had plans for this city. In this passage, the nation of Judah has become weak. Heroes and leaders cowered away. Armies weak, defenses and walls low. Death was upon the people. Instead of living by faith, they live by sight. They see the walls needed to be patch. So they patched it. They ensured the water supply was plenty. Instead of repenting, they rejoice in their sins. Bull, sheep, wine – gluttony; they look forward to their death so their last day on Earth partying is sweeter than ever. And death they bought upon themselves. Not once had they seek God for forgiveness, glorification and honorification.
