Isaiah – Chapter 51
Look to The Rock
This chapter is meant to comfort God’s people, who have endured some suffering because of their sin. Although the Israelites have suffered, they just need to “look to the rock from which you (they) were cut and to the quarry from which you (they) were hewn.” (verse 1) God is telling the Israelites to remember the suffering of the past and how God rescued them from it. When I see the word quarry, I think of a pit. Its kind of like our lives before we meet God – we are stuck in a pit of sin and cut off from God. Then God comes and blasts us from the quarry, and molds us into people to carry out his work. So, although God may discipline us, his love for us never ends. We just need to remember where we were before God and acknowledge what he has done in our lives.
