Job – Chapter 19
Job in his agony is crying out to God. He lambasts his friends for their lack of compassion. Instead of supporting him, they are convinced that he has wrong God.
21 “Have pity on me, my friends, have pity,
for the hand of God has struck me.
22 Why do you pursue me as God does?
Will you never get enough of my flesh?
Support Job! He is suffering right now, severely he says that he is being “wronged by God.” Isn’t that a bit presumptuous? I find that at odds with the idea that Job is a righteous man–perhaps it is to show that even the righteous do say foolish words.
