Proverbs 15

1 A gentle answer turns away wrath,
but a harsh word stirs up anger.

2 The tongue of the wise adorns knowledge,
but the mouth of the fool gushes folly.

4 The soothing tongue is a tree of life,
but a perverse tongue crushes the spirit

7 The lips of the wise spread knowledge,
but the hearts of fools are not upright

Face it. We love to talk. More than we like to listen. But here it tells us how we our speech should be characterized. Peaceful not harsh words. Knowledge, not foolish speak. Soothing, not words of perversity. Knowledge. The theme here goes along the line of peace and knowledge. As we grow in wisdom and knowledge, it is all too easy to speak with a certain┬ápride and attitude. But peace and soothing words should accompany it, otherwise anger and destruction of another person’s spirit would ensue.
