Proverbs 25

Honey…

What is honey?

From dictionary.com we find:

1.

a sweet, viscid fluid produced by bees from the nectarcollected from flowers, and stored in nests or hives as food.
2.

this substance as used in cooking or as a spread orsweetener.
3.

the nectar of flowers.
4.

any of various similarly sweet, viscid products produced byinsects or in other ways.
5.

something sweet, delicious, or delightful: the honey offlattery.
6.

Informal . a person for whom one feels love or deepaffection; sweetheart; darling.
7.

( sometimes initial capital letter ) an affectionate or familiarterm of address (sometimes offensive when used tostrangers, casual acquaintances, subordinates, etc., esp. bya male to a female).
8.

Informal . something of esp. high quality, degree of excellence, etc.: That’s a honey of a computer.

I find it interesting that is is mentioned twice in this chapter.

16 If you find honey, eat just enough—
too much of it, and you will vomit.

27 It is not good to eat too much honey,
nor is it honorable to search out matters that are too deep.

What do we learn?  Too much is not good.

Too much of a sweet thing is not good.

Too much of a person we call “honey” is not good.

Too much of something high quality is not good.

Even though it tastes good and feels good….too much is not.

Why?

Maybe, too much of anything that isn’t God, is not good.
