Proverbs – Chapter 6

Warnings Against Folly

6 Go to the ant, you sluggard;

consider its ways and be wise!

7 It has no commander,

no overseer or ruler,

8 yet it stores its provisions in summer

and gathers its food at harvest.

9 How long will you lie there, you sluggard?

There different types of ants within the colony, some are workers (laborers), soldiers, and drones (male ants that fertilizes the queen’s eggs).  These ants lives for one purpose and that is to fulfill their role. As each ants are summoned to their tasks it makes up a stable, organized colony.

God gives everyone special talents, spiritual gifts, limitations and purposes. Together as we work along with one another, it builds up the community to fulfill whatever God’s purpose is.  But if one person slacks off, or hibernates into their bed, or turns their head the other way to fulfill their own personal goals and pleasure then it affects the community. What is God calling you to do? Are you doing it or are you giving yourself excuse not to do so? Are you being sluggard?
