Psalm 13

1 How long, LORD? Will you forget me forever?
How long will you hide your face from me?
2 How long must I wrestle with my thoughts
and day after day have sorrow in my heart?
How long will my enemy triumph over me?

Hard questions that we might have all asked ourselves. As the writes of Psalm 13 debate about when the Lord will act and bring them out of sorrow, we see that despite their love and acceptance for God,  they feel abandoned and betrayed. This is very similar to the tone in Psalm 6… living by faith is not easy. Psalms does not offer advice to make the troubles of life go away. We see the real-life struggles and discouragements in these strong voiced poems, but more powerful is the voice of joy and security in the Lord himself.

5 But I trust in your unfailing love;

my heart rejoices in your salvation.
6 I will sing the LORD’s praise,
for he has been good to me.
