Wait on the Lord
5 I wait for the LORD, my whole being waits,
and in his word I put my hope.
6 I wait for the Lord
more than watchmen wait for the morning,
more than watchmen wait for the morning.
Being on call and working overnight shifts, where I take my last admission in the hospital up till 7am or 8am, I remember feeling elated once I see the sun peaking on the horizon. My my spirits lifted, I feel a sense of relief, the anticipation of being able to go home soon to get much needed rest. It would mean that a rough night of taking care of sick patients and doing admissions the whole night was about to end. I can only imagine how much the watchmen, who spend the whole night in fear/anticipation of some surprise enemy attack would wait for the morning.
In the same way, we should wait for the Lord. Wait for deliverance, an answer, or confirmation.
