Psalm 45

The Bridegroom And The Bride

This Psalm is very different from all of the previous Psalms – seems to be about Christ and the church. I say this because it’s referred to as a wedding song in the title of the Psalm, there’s robe/gown imagery in a few of the verses, and in verses 10 and 11 it sounds like it’s saying something to the effect of a bride leaving her family and submitting to her husband.

10┬áListen, daughter, and pay careful attention: Forget your people and your father’s house.

11Let the king be enthralled by your beauty; honor him, for he is your lord.

These two verses sound like the intimate relationship b/t Christ and the church – how we’re invited to a union with Christ, but once we make that commitment, there are certain behaviors that should follow.
