Do not covet thy neighbour
2 But as for me, my feet had almost slipped;
I had nearly lost my foothold.
3 For I envied the arrogant
when I saw the prosperity of the wicked.
25 Whom have I in heaven but you?
And earth has nothing I desire besides you.
26 My flesh and my heart may fail,
but God is the strength of my heart
and my portion forever.
Look around you. Have you ever envied your friends, celebrities, your collegues at work, who just seem to always have it all?
Here the psalmist was baffled after considering the successes of people who were wicked, until he entered God’s sanctuary. Then he understood their final destiny of ruin and destruction.
But even more, we should focus on what is it like to depend on God. To desire and to have Him. For nothing in this life can compare to Him. And that is what keeps us going forever.
