The impact of the superstorm that hit us this week may have left most of our area fairly unscathed, but it is nonetheless unprecedented on this side of the country. Millions have been impacted directly or indirectly. There will be significant needs in the days and weeks to come. As a church body, we’re seeking the ways in which we can best help and urgently provide relief to those in need. We can do more than we think. God is with us. He’s a very present help in times of trouble. Out of that, we can be a very present help to those in trouble as well.
We can begin with prayer.
Lord you are always with us.
In the calm and the storm you surround us.
Your love stays closer than a friend.
The storm may be over but a storm is still raging inside many hearts.
Bring them close to you. Bind up their broken hearts.
May they find their true treasure and home in you.
Guide those that have responded to help.
Give strength to rescuers and firemen,
electric workers and emergency crews.
May neighbor reach out to neighbor with your love and compassion.
May all find shelter in the embrace of your wings.
